At the recent Unison-Fibre Hawkes Bay Sports Awards the Napier Sailing Club took out the top Club award for hosting the 2011 Optimist Class World Championships. Gerald Martin as chief race officer for the event was recipient of the Club Official of the Year Award.
Earlier in the year at the Napier Sailing Club Annual Dinner, Gill was awarded the Ann Walker Trophy for Women’s Achievement and Sportsmanship. This was for her inspirational role to girls and women arising from her successes at Club, National and World events. The hidden camera below catches Gill burgling the silverware with conspirators Suzie and Josh Weeks (NSC 2011/12 Ahuriri Tavern Cup winner for the best performance in a National or International competition).
